Perfect Water Lilies Reproduction

"The quality of the painting was truly amazing and great service. Thanks guys!"

Adam Clarke - Philadelphia, PA, USA

Monet painted his flower garden in Giverny continuously. This topic took up the majority of his artistic attention for the last thirty years of his life. Among the motives in this garden setting, nothing inspired him more than the water lilies. Monet painted these repeatedly. In fact, there are more than 250 paintings by Monet of the water lilies in his garden. As a selection of these were painted while he suffered cataract, there is an interesting change in his perception of colors between the paintings done before and after he suffered from this illness.

The above painting, Water Lilies by Monet, was painted in 1906. It is the most famous painted by Monet in his garden, an image loved and admired by generations of art lovers. Or as stated by Giovanna Bertazzoni, Christie's auction house director and head of impressionist and modern art:

"Claude Monet's water-lily paintings are amongst the most recognized and celebrated works of the 20th Century and were hugely influential to many of the following generations of artists".

The painting shows the water lilies in the pond in Monetís garden in Giverny. The trees surrounding the pond and the sky are reflected in the water. The painting is made in the daytime, and the suns light reflects from both the water and off the petals of the water lilies themselves.

Let's look at some reasons why you should order Water Lilies from us.

riter C.P. Weekes, author of The Invincible Monet stated:

"Even his pictures, which to modern eyes appear the essence of romance, were to him scientifically exact reproductions of the effect of light on nature at any given moment"

Monet studied the effects of light in many of his painting series, including of Haystacks, Parliament and other. This was also the case with the water lilies, which he painted in numerous lighting conditions and through the different seasons. However, it could be argued that Weekes is wrong in his assumption that the Water Lilies were painted without any romantic feelings influencing the work. Some speculate that they symbolize Monetís personal artistic reflection on his love for Alice Hoschede. If you closely follow Monetís progression, which focuses on the vast beauty of the reflection of the water lilies in his garden, it can be gathered that the loving relationship he had with Alice follows in parallel with his paintings, thus establishing that this could be much more than a simple study on light.

However, Monet accomplished his work and effects with amazing simplicity. At berated by Bijou Le Tord in "A Blue Butterfly":

During the short trip I made to Paris and Giverny in preparing for this book, nothing I had seen or felt until then prepared me for what I was about to encounter at the Musťe de L'Orangerie in Paris. This museum was built to house Monet's now world-famous Water Lilies paintings. As I stood there gaping at the pair of astonishing paintings, I had to humbly ask myself: How did he do it, using so few colors?

When I was ready to paint my book, I hoped I would have the courage to use the same colors Monet used. And I did, following a list he had worked with in the latter part of his life. We now know that the list was incomplete. It shows only eight colors: silver, white, cobalt violet light, emerald green, ultramarine extra-fine, vermilion (rarely), cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow dark, and lemon yellow. "And that's all!" as Monet himself exclaimed.

"It was not easy for me to use someone else's palette. But by some strange coincidence, my own colors were very close to those of Monet."

Simplicity has never looked better indeed!

Excellent Service

"I recieved great service throughout the order and the painting was excellent when it arrived."

Lillian Allan - Devon, UK

orn Oscar Claude Monet in November 1840, Claude Monet was among the founders of French impressionism. It was even his work that lend its name to the movement. In addition to being a key part of the movement, Monet is widely considered to be the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy i.e. expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially in the case of to plein-air landscape painting like water lilies which were to become his signature motif.

While he started out utilizing dark colors, his paintings evolved along the lines of Courbet and the realist school. Starting in 1860, Monet directly abandoned dark colors in favor of a much more light inspired palette. Asked about this in 1905, he wrote:

"As for the colors I use, what's so interesting about that ? I don't think one could paint better or more brightly with another palette. The most important thing is to know how to use the colors. Their choice is a matter of habit. In short, I use white lead, cadmium yellow, vermilion, madder, cobalt blue, chrome green. That's all."

Monet's distain for darker colors prevailed through the rest of his life and was well known to his contemporaries. In fact, when he passed away, at the official service someone had drapped his coffin in a black sheet. His friend Georges Clemenceau would however not stand for this and exclaimed:

"No ! No black for Monet !"

He then proceeded to replace the black cloth with a flowered material.

or us, we did not arrive at Water Lilies through the direct route. Following careers that focused more on business and less on art, we finally got our bearings and opened a small gallery in central Copenhagen, Denmark, focusing on reproduction paintings. From there, we have moved on to the Internet in order to be able to offer museum quality reproductions to a larger audience of fellow art enthusiasts.

With our gallery, we initially used painters from Thailand for our paintings. However, while traveling in China, we came about a small group of painters specialized in the works of Claude Monet and, more than anything, in Water Lilies. As this has always been our Claude Monet favorite, indeed probably our favorite in the world of arts, we decided to work closer with these dedicated specialists to bring their craft beyond the borders of the middle kingdom. We therefore set up this web site, dedicated solely to this most amazing accomplishment of Vincent Claude Monet, Water Lilies. We hope you will join us in our appreciation for this amazing feat of art, and wish you all the best as we offer you the unique opportunity to have a truly museum quality version of this master piece for yourself.
